How can Spurs afford their summer spending spree?

Your Site News' Michael Bridge explains how Tottenham Hotspur have been able to afford this summer's spending spree - and why they're not finished yet!

Shearer at 237m? Anderson only 31st biggest signing in adjusted rankings

Elliot Anderson becomes the third-most expensive signing in Premier League history after Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz with his 116m transfer from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City.

But according to new rankings in which historic fees are adjusted to the purchasing power of clubs today, the midfielder is in fact only the 31st-most expensive addition of the Premier League era.

Man Citys 824m rebuild topped by British-record Elliot Anderson move

Manchester Citys transfer spending has hit 824m in three years after signing Elliot Anderson in a British-record 116m deal.

Anderson becomes the club's most expensive signing, eclipsing the 100m fee paid for Jack Grealish, and ranks as the third-most expensive signing in Premier League history.

Man City announce Anderson signing as midfielder becomes most expensive British player

Elliot Anderson has completed his record-breaking 116m transfer to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest.

The deal makes midfielder Anderson, 23, the most expensive British player ever, surpassing the 115m Real Madrid committed to paying for Jude Bellingham when they signed him from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023.

Only Liverpool's 125m spend on Alexander Isak and 116.5m outlay on Florian Wirtz last summer were more expensive transfers in Premier League history.

Anderson was given clearance by the England national team to complete his Man City medical on Sunday, in between World Cup games.

Bergvall still wants Spurs exit

Latest from Your Site News' Amar Mehta:

Your Site News has been told that Lucas Bergvall still wants to leave Tottenham.

However, Your Site News reported earlier today that Bergvall has been told he will not be leaving the club this summer.

It is understood that the Sweden midfielder wants to play regularly in his favoured No 8 position next season and feels a move away from Spurs would allow him to do this.

Nottingham Forest are very interested in a potential deal and expect his fee to be in line with what Brighton are paying for Spurs defender Luka Vuskovic, which was 45m plus a sell on.

Other clubs in the Premier League, Spain, Italy and Germany are monitoring the situation around Bergvall, whose future is coming into view following Sweden's exit from the World Cup, where he was a regular starter.
