Glasner close to agreeing Forest deal

Oliver Glasner is close to agreeing a three-year contract to become the next Nottingham Forest head coach.

Meanwhile, the terms of Vitor Pereira's departure are also in the process of being finalised, Your Site News understands.

Brighton sign defender Svoboda

Brighton have signed defender Michael Svoboda from Venezia on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

It brings an end to his six-year spell with the club, in which he twice helped them to earn promotion to Serie A, including last term.

The 27-year-old is currently on international duty with Austria at the World Cup. They face Spain in the round of 32 later on Thursday, with kick-off at 8pm.

Fabian Hurzeler told the club's official website: Michael has enjoyed a fantastic season with Venezia, captaining them to the league title.

He has a number of attributes that we believe will see him adapt well to how we play, both in and out of possession.

He also adds competition to an area we are looking to strengthen and with a number of clubs pursuing him this summer, I am very happy that hes decided to come to Brighton.

Ward signs for Liverpool after leaving Bristol City

Liverpool have completed the signing of Mari Ward from Bristol City.

The 20-year-old defender has signed on a free transfer after her contract with the Robins expired.

Ward started in every league game bar one last season as Bristol City narrowly missed out on promotion.

In total, the England U23 international made 86 appearances and scored six goals for the club, helping them to win the Championship in 2022/23 and making 21 WSL appearances in 2023/24.

Fulham waiting on Arbeloa work permit

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas and James Cole:

Fulham are still waiting on a work permit to be issued for Alvaro Arbeloa before they can appoint the former Real Madrid boss as head coach.

The west London club are also finalising terms for several members of his backroom staff.

They are hopeful of announcing the new coaching setup within the next week.

The squad are due to return for pre-season training later this month.

Tottenham sign Fernandes for 85m

Tottenham have completed the signing of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham.

The fee is understood to be 85m, which has smashed the club's transfer record of 65m paid for Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in August 2024.

A deal worth up to 100m has also been agreed with Newcastle for Sandro Tonali, so Fernandes' status as record signing could be short-lived.

Everton complete Hackney signing

Everton have completed the signing of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough.

The 24-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal on Merseyside.

'Tonali's a proper midfielder - Spurs will have a good season next year'

Your Site' Paul Merson on Spurs' summer business:

"Tonali is a very good signing, he is one of my favourite players in the Premier League, he is a proper, proper midfielder.

"Whenever I've watched Tottenham, I always think they are a bit over-run in midfield, they do not ever dominate games.

"They've got good centre halves and forwards when they are all fit, but they never dominate the midfield and the manager [Roberto De Zerbi] has come in and highlighted that and he has brought in two very good midfield players.

"I expect them to have a good season next year and I wonder if that Aston Villa performance against Tottenham at the end of last season will come back and bite them when they got well beat and could have probably relegated them - that could come back to bite them when we are looking at fourth or fifth in the league next year for Champions League positions.

"But he [De Zerbi] has bought very well at the moment."
